Potato With Sesame And Black Mustard Seeds

Serves 6


  • 2 pounds of any kind of potato - 8 medium.
  • 6 Tbs. cooking oil.
  • 2 tsp. whole cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp. whole black mustard seeds [ brown in color and should pop like pop corn when heated ]
  • 1 Tbs. sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp. of salt
  • 1/2 cayenne pepper
  • 1 Tbs. of lemon juice


Boil potato in jackets and let cool until they can be easily handled. Can accelerate by placing in ice cubes and water. Cut into 1/2 to 3/4 inch bits.

Heat oil in wok or fry pan until very hot. Add all seeds and when you hear the popping add the potatoes and stir fry for 5 minutes. Finally add the salt, cayenne and lemon juice and cook for 3 to 4 more minutes.
